Caroline Wetterlund, Director – piano, flute

Caroline Wetterlund began teaching privately in 2003. She holds a bachelors degree in Piano Pedagogy and is well-experienced teaching elementary, as well as, college level students, including adult group piano lessons. She teaches all ages and levels of music from the early beginner to the advanced pianist who plans to make a career in music. Mrs. Wetterlund is an accomplished flautist and has been trained by great teachers including one of Julius Baker’s students. She is experienced playing in public and has been a special performer and member of many musical organizations. She performs frequently for weddings, corporate events, restaurants, parties, recitals, funerals, exhibitions and more! Her goal is to help her students excel to their utmost potential and thrive from her love of teaching. Mrs. Wetterlund also has extensive experience conducting school choirs, group music classes and directing school productions. She began teaching for HFAA in June of 2008 and became director August 2011.


 Evelyn Pupello-Moore-violin, viola, cello


Mrs. Eveyln Pupello is a long time member of the Florida orchestra. She recently retired from the Florida Orchestra after playing professionally for over fifty years. She has been a professional musician most of her life and continues to perform throughout Tampa Bay in various chamber groups and ensembles and as a soloist. She brings a wealth of teaching experience to our staff, having taught private and group music lessons for various institutions. Mrs. Pupello teaches violin, viola, cello, and Suzuki Strings for HFAA.


Desiree McFaddenDesiree McFadden- piano, woodwinds, brass, strings

Desiree McFadden started teaching at Hillsdale Fine Arts Academy in August, 2013. She holds a graduate degree from Bob Jones University in Music Education. She will be teaching the following instruments at HFAA: Piano, Flute, Trumpet, Trombone, Clarinet, Basic Violin. Desiree is also Hillsdale Baptist Academy’s music teacher and instructs group lessons, school choir and school productions.

 MissyDr. Melissa Cancel- Drama, Theatre, Public Speaking

Dr. Cancel has a Ph.D in Communication with an emphasis in Performance studies andhas been teaching public speaking, communication and performance classes at the college level for 22 years. Dr. Cancel has extensive experience outside the classroom as well–acting in professional and community productions, compiling and performing one-woman shows, directing numerous college and community productions, and regularly judging speech and acting competitions. Now Dr. Cancel brings her wealth of experience and teaching to a private studio offering lessonsand workshops in acting, oral interpretation and public speaking.
